It’s okay to say Women, Masturbation, and Orgasms in the same sentence

The first time I masturbated was in college and I didn’t know what to do or how to do it, what I liked, what was a complete turn off and what was I even signing up for; because women’s sexual pleasure is not something we, as a society, pay attention to or think of often. The first time I thought of it was when a friend of mine suggested that I try it out before completely crossing it out. I did! I masturbated for the first time ever in front of a mirror because I was so scared to go for the wrong hole. That’s how little I, as a woman, knew about my own body and honestly it was no life changing experience at all. It took me days to figure out what works best for me and I am still figuring it out, which I’m guessing so many women are right now so let’s indulge in a conversation where we talk about women, masturbation and orgasms!

Why is masturbation something that I felt the need to try?

Masturbation is a natural and normal sexual activity that many people engage in for various reasons. While the benefits can vary from person to person, here are some potential benefits associated with masturbation:

Sexual pleasure

Masturbation can provide individuals with sexual pleasure and satisfaction, allowing them to explore their bodies and learn about their sexual preferences and desires.

Stress relief

Engaging in masturbation can help reduce stress and promote relaxation. The release of endorphins during orgasm can create a sense of well-being and relieve tension. Masturbation may aid in promoting better sleep also. The release of hormones and relaxation experienced after orgasm can contribute to a more restful sleep.

Self-exploration and body awareness

Through masturbation, individuals can discover their erogenous zones, learn about their bodies, and understand what feels pleasurable to them. This knowledge can enhance sexual experiences with a partner.

Emotional well-being

Masturbation can promote a positive body image and improve self-esteem by fostering a sense of self-acceptance and self-love.

Hormonal balance

Masturbation can stimulate the release of endorphins, oxytocin, and dopamine, which are feel-good hormones that contribute to overall well-being.

Safe sexual activity

Masturbation is a safe and risk-free form of sexual expression that does not carry the risks of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or unwanted pregnancies.

Pain relief

Masturbation has been reported to provide temporary relief from menstrual cramps, headaches, and certain types of muscle pain due to the release of endorphins and the relaxation it induces. I can vouch for it!

How does masturbation affect the brain?

Masturbation can have various effects on the brain, both immediate and long-term. Here are some ways in which masturbation can impact the brain:

Release of neurochemicals

Masturbation triggers the release of several neurochemicals in the brain, including endorphins, oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin. These chemicals contribute to feelings of pleasure, relaxation, and happiness. The release of endorphins, in particular, can provide a sense of well-being and pain relief.

Stress reduction and mood enhancement

Masturbation can help reduce stress levels by activating the body's relaxation response. The release of endorphins and other neurochemicals can counteract the effects of stress hormones, promoting a sense of calm and relaxation. Masturbation can have a positive impact on mood by increasing dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain. These neurotransmitters are associated with feelings of pleasure, reward, and overall well-being. Masturbation can provide a temporary mood boost and alleviate symptoms of anxiety or depression for some individuals.

Sleep promotion

Masturbation can have a relaxing effect on the body, making it easier to fall asleep. The release of neurochemicals during orgasm, such as oxytocin and endorphins, can induce feelings of relaxation and contribute to a better quality of sleep.

Body image and self-esteem

Masturbation can positively affect body image and self-esteem. By exploring and appreciating one's own body, individuals can develop a healthier attitude towards their sexuality and feel more comfortable and confident in their own skin.

Neuroplasticity and learning

Engaging in sexual activities, including masturbation, can stimulate neuroplasticity—the brain's ability to reorganize itself and form new connections. This process contributes to learning and can help individuals understand their own sexual responses, preferences, and desires.

Activation of brain regions

Masturbation can activate various brain regions, including the prefrontal cortex, insula, and striatum, which are involved in pleasure, reward, and motivation. This activation can contribute to the overall experience of sexual pleasure and reinforce the behavior.

However, factors such as frequency, personal beliefs, and attitudes towards masturbation can also influence how it impacts an individual's brain and overall well-being.

What about orgasms?

Orgasms are like the four clover leaves, we have all heard about it but not all of us get it. The easiest way for me to orgasm is through nipples, however, I recently found out that I can orgasm without even touching myself and while you may think I am flexing, I’m just here to tell you there is no one right journey to the Big O! The female orgasm can be achieved through various forms of sexual stimulation. Here are some key points to understand about how a woman can experience orgasm:

  1. Clitoral orgasm: The clitoris is a highly sensitive organ located at the top of the vulva, above the vaginal opening. It is a primary source of sexual pleasure for many women. Stimulation of the clitoris, either through direct contact or indirect pressure, can lead to clitoral orgasms. This can be done using fingers, the tongue, a vibrator, or other forms of clitoral stimulation.
  2. Vaginal orgasm: Some women can experience orgasm through stimulation of the vagina. This can occur through penetration by a penis, fingers, or a sex toy. The stimulation of the G-spot, an erogenous zone located on the front wall of the vagina, is often associated with vaginal orgasms. However, it's important to note that not all women experience orgasms solely through vaginal stimulation.
  3. Combination orgasm: Many women find that a combination of clitoral and vaginal stimulation leads to the most intense orgasms. This can involve simultaneous or alternating stimulation of the clitoris and the vagina, either through manual or oral stimulation, or a combination of both.
  4. Emotional and mental factors: Emotional and mental factors can play a significant role in a woman's ability to achieve orgasm. Feelings of relaxation, comfort, arousal, and being mentally present can enhance the orgasmic experience. Communication with a partner, trust, and emotional connection can also contribute to orgasmic pleasure.
  5. Exploration and self-knowledge: Each woman's experience with orgasm can vary. It is important for individuals to explore their own bodies, understand their unique preferences, and communicate their desires to their partner. Experimenting with different types of stimulation, positions, and techniques can help in discovering what feels pleasurable and leads to orgasm.
  6. Nipple Orgasms: Nipple orgasms, also known as nipplegasms, are intense pleasurable sensations experienced through nipple stimulation. For some individuals, the nipples are erogenous zones that can lead to orgasmic pleasure. This can occur through gentle touch, licking, sucking, or using various nipple stimulation techniques or devices. Nipplegasms are unique to each person, and the intensity and ability to achieve them may vary. They can contribute to enhanced sexual experiences and add diversity to one's pleasure repertoire.

It's important to note that not all women experience orgasms or achieve them consistently, and this is completely normal. Every person's experience with orgasm is unique, and the most important aspect is to focus on pleasure, relaxation, and enjoying the sexual experience. Communication, understanding, and a non-judgmental approach to sexuality are crucial for creating a positive and fulfilling sexual environment.

It is absolutely okay for women to masturbate and seek sexual pleasure. Self-pleasure is a natural and healthy aspect of human sexuality, and women deserve to explore and enjoy their own bodies without shame or judgment. Masturbation allows women to discover their desires, learn about their bodies, and experience the pleasure and satisfaction they deserve. It can also contribute to a positive body image, self-confidence, and a better understanding of one's own sexual needs, leading to more fulfilling sexual experiences both alone and with a partner.

Whether it be exploring your body with your own hands or with sex toys, we highly recommend it. Here is something to get you started on your pleasure journey. https://mymuse.in/bebadass
